Giving Thanks

It is Thanksgiving Week. A time for giving Thanks! I have a lot to be thankful for, but right now I’d like to give a BIG THANKS to a couple of good blogging buddies.

Every now and then I receive awards for various things. I have been honored for my volunteer work, which I am honored to do. I have received certificates of appreciation from various facilities where I have visited to help patients and spread JOY. I have won some ribbons and some certificates for my grace in the Rally Obedience ring. And I have received a few awards from the blogging community.

IMG_1739I recently was blessed with The Lovely Blog Award from TWO of my blogging friends. I think this award is kind of a pat on the back. It’s nice to think that folks appreciate my attempts at beautification here in BlogLand.

0407c-onelovelyblogawardCricketmuse is a LOVELY blog devoted to books and reading and writing and sometimes other interesting musings. It’s a nice place to visit. I suggest that you do that. Visit. She would be happy to meet you. You can get to her home by clicking HERE.

The RoomMom is another LOVELY blog full of fun and helpful stuff for teachers and parents of students. She is a teacher and a parent and she is crazy busy doing all kinds of things!! Whew! You can learn a lot in her homeroom!! You can visit her HERE.

Now this award comes with some rules. I have kind of a hard time with rules. But I’ll see what I can do. I’m supposed to tell you seven things about myself. Seven impossible things before breakfast, I suppose!

Well —
1. I LOVE tennis balls!!!!!

img0103. I like to roll around in smelly stuff. The Mom Person does not like this.
IMG_09564. I LOVE TENNIS BALLS!

CIMG34745. I once ate a whole chocolate cake. The Mom Person did not like this either.

IMG_56196. I can read!
IMG_47307. I am ONE LUCKY DOG! With the BEST job in the world!

IMG_4763Now I’m supposed to pass this award along to TEN other folks. And this is where I run into problems. I don’t know how to CHOSE! So if you are reading this right now, KNOW that you are a LOVELY Blogger! And I LOVE visiting your blogs. And if you would like to tell me a few things about yourself in the comment part below, or if you might want to do your very own post about some personal trivia, that would be so FANTASTICALLY LOVELY!

Thank you again Ms Cricketmuse and Ms RoomMom!
I wish you all a LOVELY Day!!
Your friend

What’s a Liebster?

Ms Lorian Lipton at DogDaz (a blog all about life with her dogs Louise and Sofie and their cats – the Zoo) has honored me with an award!!! A Liebster Award!

liebsteraward_3lilapplesNow, I’m not sure exactly what a Liebster is so I looked it up. It seems that Liebster means beloved. That’s a nice thing. I also found a couple of fine ladies who put a lot of time and energy into researching the origins of this award. You might want to visit Lorraine Reguly at Wording Well and Sopphey Vance at Sopphey Says to find out more about the history and the rules. Basically it’s a way to connect with kind of new blogs or blogs without a big readership. A way to connect. That’s the key!

One of the rules of this award is that I have to answer some questions posed by Ms Lipton. So here goes!

1. What is your favorite hiding place?
I guess that depends on how you interpret that question. I like to hide my tennis ball under the bookcase or under a storage chest. My humans have a hard time finding them there.

IMG_4068I like to hide myself behind the curtains by the big glass window/doors. Then I can watch the world outside and no one can see me.

IMG_30672. If you could talk to your Human for 5 minutes in their language, what would you say?
That’s an easy one! My Mom Person and I speak the same language! We talk all the time! She’s a pretty good listener. The Dad Person speaks pretty good dog as well. He plays a good game of hide and seek!

3. What is your most favorite food?
I don’t know that I have a favorite. I am rather fond of french fries and banana chips.

IMG_24814. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
There’s no place like home!!!!

IMG_49765. Do you have a hero?
I think that my Mom Person is my greatest hero and my biggest fan. She’s my Wonder Woman!

img0026. Do you have a bedtime?
HA! That’s a funny one! I wish I had a bedtime. I wish the Mom Person had a bedtime. I have a hard time getting her to go to bed so that I can get some good sleep.

7. What makes you laugh?
Life makes me laugh! 😀 Except when the Mom Person up and leaves. 😦 But then JOY, JOY when she returns!!!  😀 Life is Good!

IMG_44378. What do you do that makes others laugh?
It seems that most everything I do makes people laugh! I guess I’m a real comedienne!

IMG_02969. Does anything scare you?
Snakes!!!!

10. Do you know how to dance?
Do I know how to dance?! My name is Rhythm! Yes! I can sing and dance – and I love to sing and dance!  🙂

Now the rules say that I am supposed to nominate 10 blogs to pass this award on to. But it’s hard to choose. So what I’d like to do instead is ask you to comment after this post and tell me some random fact about yourself. Then visit Ms Lipton and her little Zoo by clicking HERE.

Then look over at my sidebar and find the section that lists Friends in the Neighborhood and stop in to visit some of these folks. They are all good, friendly folks. You might find some humans and you might find some canines. It will be a treasure hunt!

Thank you Ms Lipton for including me amongst the beloved! I certainly love visiting your zoo!

I wish you a week full of beloved friends and family!

Doodle for Google

I just discovered that Google has a contest every year to create a Google Doodle to go with a particular theme. For the 7th annual event, Google asked kids from grades K-12 to come up with an invention that would make the world a better place. They had 100,000 submissions!!!! The winner this year is 11 year old Audrey Zhang from New York.

You must see this, if you haven’t seen or read about it yet —

And for more about the contest —

There are sure some awesome, incredible young folks out there!!!!! Wow!

I wish you a Bright, Sparkling Monday!

Texas Book Festival

IMG_3912The Mom Person spent the weekend at the Texas Book Festival in our lovely state capital, Austin. I did not get to go because she did not think that dogs would be allowed. But it turned out that there were quite a few dogs there with their people! Phooey! Maybe I’ll get to go next year.

IMG_3908There were lots of people there to meet and greet all the authors and buy their books. The Mom Person saw lots and lots of bags full of books, so I imagine that all those authors are very happy about their weekend in Austin. There were a lot of authors there and the Mom Person had a hard time deciding who she wanted to see and what books she wanted to buy.

IMG_3896

This was the Saturday schedule for book signings. Some of the authors read their books before signing and some of them didn’t. The Mom Person said it was kind of confusing and a little crazy with everyone buying books and getting in line and trying to figure out where to be when. But everyone was very polite and nice and friendly. Even the authors!

The stars of the show seemed to be Mr Jon Scieszka and Mr Mac Barnett. And their book Battle Bunny. They did several talks and seemed to be everywhere. And they packed the tent to over flowing. And the book tent even ran out of Battle Bunny!

IMG_3893But the Mom Person managed to get me a copy! And she got it signed. They thought I must be a very smart Library Dog.

IMG_3941Battle Bunny is by Jon Scieszka and Mac Barnett. Pictures are by Matthew Myers.

It was published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers in 2013.

According to the back of the book it is suitable for ages 5 – 87.

I would imagine that you have probably heard all about this book. It has been in the news a lot. I think because it is a very unique book. And the uniqueness has nothing to do with the story itself. It’s all about the BOOK itself. It presents itself as a kind of Little Golden Book called Birthday Bunny that was given to a young lad named Alex on his birthday. But Alex decided to turn it into a more exciting book. So he crossed out a lot of stuff and drew stuff in with pencil and now it is Battle Bunny instead of Birthday Bunny. And when Birthday Bunny encounters his friends in the forest in the original version, Battle Bunny sees them as enemies and whomps on them and explodes things in his quest to put his “evil plan” into action.  Alex must eventually come in and save the day.IMG_3942This is a really funny, crazy book! You must get your hands on it!

This crazy team of Scieszka and Barnett not only talked about their crazy book, but they also presented the master list for the Texas Bluebonnet Award books. This is a program developed through the Texas Library Association to encourage reading in young people. The master list of 20 books is presented every year at the Texas Book Festival. Then if students read, or are read to, 5 books from the list they have the opportunity to vote for their favorite book in January. The book that receives the most votes wins the Award. You can find out more about the Bluebonnet Award HERE.

And here are the Dynamic Bunny Duo presenting the list –

Are they crazy or what?!

Well, if those pictures don’t convince you — here’s a little taste of Battle Bunny —

I wish y’all a happy, crazy week! And Happy Birthday or whatever!

There are some obligations attached to this award.

I need to display the award badge, which I will do proudly.
